The winners of the 2026 Aurora Book Awards were announced on August 9 during a YouTube livestream. The annual awards, administered by the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association (CSFFA), honour excellence in the fields of science fiction, fantasy and horror. Breath of the Dragon by Shannon Lee and Fonda Lee (Wednesday Books) was named Best YA Novel. Kate Beaton's Shark Girl (Roaring Brook Press) was honoured with Best Graphic Novel.
The ceremony included the induction of this year's CSFFA Hall of Fame recipients. Among the inductees is author Kelley Armstrong. The author of over 50 novels and a dozen short stories, Armstrong's middle grade/YA titles have won numerous awards including the White Pine Award (The Gathering), the Aurora Book Award—Best YA Novel (The Rising), and the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children's Book Award (A Royal Guide to Monster Slaying). Her latest YA novel, A Deadly Inheritance, was published earlier this year by Tundra Books.
