Shortlists announced for the 2026 BC and Yukon Book Prizes

The West Coast Book Prize Society announced the finalists for the 42nd annual BC and Yukon Book Prizes earlier today. The winners will be announced at the BC and Yukon Book Prizes Gala on Sunday, September 19, 2026 at the University Golf Club in Vancouver. The finalists for the Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize (for the best illustrated book) and the Sheila A. Egoff Children’s Literature Prize (for the best non-illustrated book) are listed below.

A Stronger Home, written by Katrina Chen and Elaine Su, illustrated by Delphie Côté-Lacroix (Orca Book Publishers)

A soirée to celebrate the shortlisted authors will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 6:30 pm at Book Warehouse in Vancouver (632 West Broadway). This casual, celebratory event to kick off the festivities is free and open to the public. Finalist books will be available to purchase.
