Nominees announced for the 2026 Doug Wright Awards

The nominees for the 2026 Doug Wright Awards were announced yesterday, including The Egghead: The Doug Wright Award for Best Kids' Book. Established in 2005, the awards celebrate excellence in the field of Canadian comics and named for cartoonist Doug Wright (1917–1983).

Illustrator Mike Deas is a double nominee in the Egghead category. In addition to the Egghead nominees, Jordana Globerman's Soul Machine (Annick Press) has been nominated for The Nipper: The Doug Wright Award for Emerging Talent.

The awards ceremony, hosted by Ho Che Anderson, will take place on Saturday, June 6 at 8 pm EDT at Toronto's Arts & Letter Club. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube. The nominees for the Egghead are listed below.
