
The winners of the 2026 Saskatchewan Book Awards were announced on May 1st at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Regina. Saskatoon author Kristy Jackson took home two major awards. Sponsored by the G. Murray and Edna Forbes Foundation, Jackson's debut middle-grade novel Mortified, illustrated by Rhael McGregor and published by HarperCollins Publishers, was awarded the Children's Literature Award. Her second novel, Touching Grass, also illustrated by Rhael McGregor and published by HarperCollins Publishers, won the Book of the Year Award, sponsored by Regina Public Library.
The Gabriel Dumont Institute Press was honoured with the Indigenous Peoples Publishing Award, co-sponsored by Saskatoon Public Library and City of Saskatoon, for Maddy’s Sash by Métis author Marion Gonneville and Métis illustrator Kate Boyer.
