
The longlist for the 2026 Toronto Book Awards were recently announced. Established in 1974 by Toronto City Council, the Toronto Book Awards honour authors whose works deepen our understanding of Toronto’s diverse communities, cultures and history. Jackie Khalilieh's YA novel You Started It made the longlist.
The shortlist of five finalists will be announced in September, and the winner will be announced at a gala event on November 10 in partnership with Toronto Public Library. The award carries a cash prize of $20,000 to the winner, with each of the remaining shortlisted titles receiving $2,000.
