It is with deep sadness we share with you the passing of publishing professional Margaret Bryant. Margaret's career in Canadian publishing spans decades. She started her career at John Wiley & Sons as a trade representative before moving into management roles at Stoddart Publishing, Chapters/Indigo, Firefly Books, Literary Press Group, Dundurn, and her final role as Sales Director for Orca Book Publishers.
Highly respected by her colleagues, in 2025, Margaret was honoured with the Association of Canadian Publishers’ President’s Award in recognition of her contributions to the Canadian publishing community, as well as the Ontario Book Publishers Organization's Janice E. Handford Award.
From 2019-2024, Margaret sat on the board of directors of the Canadian Children's Book Centre. “All of the CCBC family is deeply sadden to hear of Margaret’s passing. She was an engaged board member, always bringing her years experience, knowledge and passion for our mission to every meeting and event she attended. The children’s book community has lost one of our great supporters. We share our sincere condolences with her loved ones," says Stephanie Wells, Executive Director.
If you wish to donate in Margaret’s name, the family has suggested the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
