From the Editor: March 2026

Welcome to the March issue of Canadian Children’s Book News!

As a society, we are inundated with news stories from around the world. But how do we know what is “fake news” and what is legit? In this month’s insightful article, Krista Jorgensen speaks with authors Joyce Grant and Gregor Craigie about the dangers of misinformation and the books they have written to help young readers think critically and use common sense when consuming information online.

Our Keep Your Eye On section introduces you to author-illustrator Sid Sharp, whose latest graphic novel—Bog Myrtle—was a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Illustration. Sid’s third book, Midnight Manor, will be published by Annick Press this fall.

Our Bookmark list is a wide-ranging collection of new titles invites young readers to explore everything from everyday adventures and managing big emotions to questions of identity, justice, and belonging. Across picture books, fiction, and non-fiction, these stories celebrate curiosity, resilience, and the many ways kids can better understand themselves, their communities, and the world around them.

As always, we have reviews of new books for you to enjoy!

Happy reading,

Shannon Barnes
